No graphic card at cold boot cMP

Hello!,

Since I've updated my OS to 10.14.6 last week my computer at cold boot does not activate my screen.
I check via screen sharing and I can load my session, but I can see in the preference system no graphic card detected.

I have to reboot in order to activate my screen and therefore the graphic card detected.

Any one is reporting the same issue?
I'll do this evening the second 10.14.6 released yesterday and see if there is any progress.

10GBe speed issues on macOs Sierra with Myricom 10G-PCIE-8C-T

We are running 4 MacPro's 5.1 on a NAS via 10GBe Myricom 10G-PCIE-8C-T network adapter. After upgrading to macOs Sierra there was a maximum speed of 90 MB/s available.

Myricom told us, it's a driver problem. But that's simply not true.
We wrote a script which increases the speed to 1000 MB/s.

If there's anyone out there with the same issues, just send a PN.

to put it all into context I have to empty hard drives all clean all empty good as new Boot into my recovery partition set to GULD partition when it finishes loading it comes up with this message every time with both hard drives I did the same thing over with the other hard drive so what am I doing wrong?

I saw someone advertising a 3,1 8 core 3.2 on ebay , running mojave, with an NVMe (970 pro) boot drive. I understand the mojave part (dosdude) but how can it boot from an NVMe ?? I thought the firmware updates applicable to the 5,1 (or patched 4,1) were required for this ?

Mac Pro won’t boot

I have a 2010 2.8ghz quad core Mac Pro and now when I switch it on the computer turns off after like 3 secs itself. Sometimes it stays on but I get a black screen with no chime nor anything else.. nothing happens. I already changed a new power supply and even bought a Radeon 580 sapphire pulse for it. Still the same... I can’t find out what the problem is..
What else can it be..?

When boot up the display card fan switches on running then after a while it stops. Is that normal?

I have an early 2009 8 core Mac Pro 4.1 (details attached) and I'm looking to make it quicker.

I've just installed 4x 4GB 1066MHZ DDR3 ECC RAM (My mac is ECC enabled) and I've left 4x 2GB ram in from before (they are all made by Kingston). I've also got the OS on an SSD. My geek bench score is single - 2302 and multi - 12956.

I recently found out I can upgrade my firmware from 4.1 to 5.1. If I upgrade firmware will my ram still work? and my graphics card/everything? I've read this is...

I just replaced the GPU of my Mac Pro 5,1 and ran some before and after benchmarks, which may interest some. I ran both Geekbench and Cinebench suite on Sierra, High Sierra and Mojave. In the case of NVidia, I tested both the OSX driver and the web driver (when available).

There's a fairly wide range in CPU benchmarks which I'll attribute to background processes. I rebooted between each batch of tests and turned off all other apps, but did not attempt to turn off every background process....

Hello!

Just saw on Internet a new/revised LG UltraFine 5K Display and I was wondering which retina display could work with the classic MacPro.

Which 4K/5k Display is compatible with a vega 56?
Is it possible from a Display with Thunderbolt / USB3 C to connect the screen to one of the DisplayPort of the Vega and USB to the usb?

Hi Everyone,

I am not entirely sure where this should be posted so my apologies in advance if its in the wrong place.

I not too long ago got cMPs and upgraded them to Mojave. They are used primarily for three different projects and are not my primary unit. Mainly to experiment.

One of the projects is crypto mining. As it stands most miners (w/ use of GPU) are for Windows or Linux. And if any do offer for a Mac its for CPU only, as the claim is they don't support Mac GPUs.

Need some help. I have an 3.2 Ghz 8-core early 2008 Mac Pro with ATI Radeon 5770, 32 GB RAM, 512GB Samsung 850 SSD startup drive, three WD Caviar Black 1TB drives, and the 500GB HD drive that came with it new. I also have a 30" Apple Cinema Display. I'm not interested in getting top dollar for it....just want to let it go for a good price on Craigslist. I am considering putting the following cards in one of my good old Mac Pros.
I can buy the Geforce for 350 EUR, the Radeon for 220 EUR. The advantage of the latter is that I can run Mojave. The advantage of the first would be that it is considerably faster (74%) and uses less power. (165 Watt vs 185)
Has anyone of you used these cards and can you just report your experience? Is the difference really noticeable? Which card is most recommended?...

short back story - i got into photography about 1 year ago, and have been casually editing photos (2ish photos a week) on my macbook pro 2012 (i7 quad core) on Aperture. so i feel like im ready to move my work to a desktop.

so is buying a used 2010 macpro 5.1 (6 cores) still worth it? is it still future proof? ill be using this with my dell 27" 2560x1440 resolution screen and i can always update gfx card (currently have a spare gtx 660)

local craiglist ads are selling these 2010 macpro...

Hello, I have a mac pro 5,1 with dual x5690 CPUs. I am thinking about water cooling my computer, and since I would be adding extra cooling capacity I would love to overclock my CPUs and ram to give my computer a little more performance. I am wondering if anyone knows how to do this? I have been doing research on the topic and at first, it seemed as though it couldn't be done, but after searching results on Geekbench, I found someone who was able to overclock a single CPU mac pro to 4.5+...

Apple 5770 with LG38WK95C no Bootscreen

Is it normal to have no Bootscreen in the above configuration? With Mini displayport to Displayport cable. I tried both Displayport 1.1 and 1.2. No changes. Only the login screen will appear. The card is genuine Apple.
