Installed on Mac Pro 5,1 with Mojave 10.14.6
QNINE PCIe card
on slot 4. using it to boot.
read/write speeds using black disk magic are around 1,500

seems people are getting about double this so is it my PCIe adaptor?

by the way, not a gripe...it's fast enough. just interested in how this works.

I just bought another cMP 4,1 8-Core (2.26GHz) - Apple 5870 1GB GPU - 22GB - original BT card on an auction site - a steal! It was delivered by a courier company, and my excitement all evaporated as soon as I took the packaging off. F#$kers!

I upgraded the CPU to the max I could go 3.46GHz 6-Core so that one can't go any higher, besides that what else could possibly be upgraded that would give me better performance? Is my bottleneck always going to remain the CPU at this point?

I bought an NVIDIA GT640 from ebay that had been flashed for the mac boot screen. I think its the macvidcards rom although i dont know the actual source of this card. It works just fine with mojave for the spare 3,1 .

Hello guys,

the new display looks amazing but I can't afford it nor I need such a beast. However, do you think the tech will trickle down and Apple will release another display that is more for prosumers and doesn't have all the greatest but its more affordable? Or is this Apple telling us that we only do PRO displays now and others need to get an iMac if they want Apple's design.

Also, how long do you think it will take before the screen is discounted? $6999 with the coating and stand is...

Nvidia gt640 does it need the fan ?

I have a nvidia gt640 with the macvidcards rom i purchased for a spare mac pro to give it a flash to 141.0.0.0 and install mojave. It has the fan mounted on top of the heatsink and runs at 100% during boot and at a constant 80-90% when the drivers kick in. This gives a little whine that is at a higher pitch than the other fans and so i unplugged it (the fan i mean). The mac pci fan is still giving air flow over the (now passive) heatsink. seems just barely warm. (with the card fan plugged in...

Had an odd one today on my cMP 2010 - My Bay 3 drive was just not there (its a 4TB audio sample storage disk), at all. It showed in the shortcuts on Finder but wouldn't do anything and then after playing with Disk Utility and About this mac more zero, almost like it had been completely removed from my Mac.

I opened up the door and swapped it out to an external drive which my mac was then happy to see so I thought "bad news" - How do I get my Bay 3 Sata sled mechanism fixed as that must be...

I saw what i thought was a Mac Pro at a local market for only 20 pounds they said it was working,it came with a screen and only one drive bay at the front ,i understand the Mac pros came with two.So i looked it up on here and and found is was this

I have a mac pro 3,1 and a mac pro 2,1. My mac pro 3,1 did not have a airport card installed so i took the one out of my 2,1 and it worked fine. The only issue is for some reason it says it only has 802.11 a/b/g support. I have done research and it says it had 802.11 n support as well but mine does not. I think mine may have a old firmware version installed that limits it to a/b/g support but i cant find anywhere to get the updates. Any help would be nice :). Here are the specs of my mac and...

Hi,

Since updating my Mac Pro 5,1 to 10.14.4 i have started seeing kernel panics occasionally when the Mac goes to sleep.

Had 0 issues until I applied the update.

I've tried installing the combo update but that didn't help. Wondering if it could be related to Fusion VM's I have running in the background.

Have tried searching the net (including the VMware forums) for other people experiencing issues since the update but have turned up nothing.

I'm confident it's not a hardware issue...

I'm looking for a 4 bay USB 3 enclosure that allows for "quick" hot-plugging. By "quick", I mean no screws.

Does such an enclosure exist?

P.S. I want it quick because I'd use one of the bays to update my off-site back-ups.

I am working on a family member's Mac Pro 1,1 that they bought on eBay for cheap.

It wasn't booting at all. I struggled to get the machine to see my patched El Capitan USB stick. However, after about a million random attempts, it booted to the USB when I held down the C key (why, I don't know but it worked).

I installed the OS on the old HDD that came with the machine. It seems to work as expected.

However, the family member now wants to upgrade to a 1TB Samsung SSD. The Mac Pro 1,1...

Hi! My Mac Pro 5,1 Mid 2010 has been running fairly well recently, apart from an issue where I cannot seem to get it to upgrade past OS X 10.13.4, Boot ROM version MP51.0089.B00, over the last few months.
But the other day, after I powered it up and was on it for about five minutes, the screen suddenly went grey with thin white lines running horizontally across it, then it powered itself down after about 30 seconds and immediately tried to power itself on again, only this time unsuccessfully...

Just a word of caution to anyone using SATA SSDs via PCIe adapter - they have "disappeared" more frequently at startup and after brief periods of inactivity with 10.14.6 18G84 than all other previous Mojave builds.

Have occasionally ran into this issue with previous Mojave builds with Apricorn Velocity Duo X2 and they ALWAYS have shown again on shutdown then restart. The majority of the time they were still accessible in finder, but not always shown on desktop or via shortcuts....

Dear all,

after a Carbon Copy Cloner I completely initialized my SSD internal drive and installed Mojave. I upgraded from Mavericks and thought that was the right time to a new installation after coming to HS with upgrade.

I'm experiencing typical GPU glitch in Mojave on the right side of my 32" LG monitor. Nothing similar in High Sierra. The strange thing is if I use the built in register function in Mojave to show you I can't get glitch...

Sometimes they happen also during mouse move or...

Anyone with nMP, dual D700 and Mojave
