HDMI / Displayport audio fix

thunder72fr made a post in the PULSE RX580 ROM study thread about that he can get HDMI audio working properly in Mojave with just Lilu.kext and AppleALC.kext installed.

I further tested it on my own cMP and confirmed it can work. And the process is simpler than HDMIAudio.kext + AppleHDA.kext patch.

2009-2010 Mac Pro Firmware Tool Error: This program requires Internet Access

Hey there everyone,

I'm trying to flash my 2009 4,1 to 5,1 but I keep running into this issue with the firmware tool. It says

'This program requires Internet Access. Please connect your Mac Pro to the Internet and Try Again'.

I am connected to the internet. I read that the typical fix was to download the 1.5 2010 Firmware from here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1321 and then mount it, but don't click the .pkg. I did that exact process and I get the same error.

Any ideas on...

Is a 2010 Mac Pro worth it?

I’ve got a simple question for you guys. Currently I have a 2019 MacBook Pro; however, I’m debating picking up a 2010 Mac Pro. I’m wondering if it would be worth it to buy one if I can get a good deal on one. What do y’all think? Also, how much would you recommend spending on a Mac Pro with a 3.2 GHz Xeon processor and 12 GB of ram? My 2019 machine still may outperform it, but I love the ease of upgrading the Mac Pro.

Thanks for your help and advice!

Mac Pro 2010 unexpected shutdown

Hi.

I have a 2010 5,1 with dual 2,4 quad core and an rx 580 pulse. In the last month I’m experiencing unexpected shutdowns when using fcpx and motion.

The first time I was using motion. As I’m using a fairly old ups, I attributed the shutdown to the ups, and simply switched cable to the regular plug and everything went fine.

A couple of weeks later, however, editing a fcpx project (nothing too demanding, multicam 3 streams of h264 1080p) I started experiencing shutdowns, no matter where I...

Contacted him about flashing my card via email. I live in southern california so I wanted to go in person and just do it on the spot since I read some horror stories of him taking the cards as hostages.

He replied back after a few days saying it is possible and although he responded a bit late (since at some instances I replied right back meaning he could've responded right after too), he eventually confirmed the time and date.

Before my departure (it's about an 1hr30min one-way so a 3hr...

AMD Polaris, Vega, & Navi GPU macOS Support

This thread is about compatibility of Polaris, Vega, & Navi graphics cards with the Mac Pro. This information is mostly reference for Mac Pro 5,1 (2010 & 2012) (or 4,1 -> 5,1 2009) users, and also Mac Pro 6,1 (2013) users who wish to install a GPU in an external enclosure. Note that it has not been officially confirmed yet if the Mac Pro 7,1 (2019) is compatible with non-Apple GPUs, but they will probably work both internally and as an eGPU via TB3.

What I have to do to upgrade the firmware:

Remember that Mac Pro 5,1 don't install firmwares automatically with updates like every other supported Mac and all BootROM upgrades are manual.

If your Mac Pro have a BootROM earlier than MP51.0089.B00, to upgrade to 144.0.0.0.0 you will have to do:

  1. Download the full Mac App Store installer for 10.13.6, open it and then do as the installer says to upgrade to MP51.0089.B00, this needs a Mac EFI GPU. After the...

Questions regarding upgrading CPU/RAM/FIRMWARE

I have an early 2009 8 core Mac Pro 4.1 (details attached) and I'm looking to make it quicker.

I've just installed 4x 4GB 1066MHZ DDR3 ECC RAM (My mac is ECC enabled) and I've left 4x 2GB ram in from before (they are all made by Kingston). I've also got the OS on an SSD. My geek bench score is single - 2302 and multi - 12956.

I recently found out I can upgrade my firmware from 4.1 to 5.1. If I upgrade firmware will my ram still work? and my graphics card/everything? I've read this is...

Mac Pro 2019 - PCIe Expansion Opportunities?

Hi there,

Could anyone provide some insight on whether the new Mac Pro 2019 is going to be compatible with third party PCIe expansion cards? I was looking to buy the low-end model which only has a 256GB SSD, and expand my storage performance via PCIe 3.0 x 16 RAID Controller cards... is this a viable option?

I would appreciate any insight.

I want to increase the performance of my future Mac...

Hi all,

Please pardon my ignorance, but I do need some help in that I currently have a Mac Pro - Mid 2010 with a NVIDIA Quadro K5000 4096 running two Apple 24" LED Cinema Displays.

Today, I had to move my setup to another room in my house and upon setting things back up, only one display is being detected and even though it's detected, it is only displaying half the resolution (currently it's at 1280 x 720) and I am unable to change it to the displays regular resolution (see screenshot)....

GPU & Temperature Control Options

Hi there,

For at least a couple of months now I’ve been trying to improve the temperature from inside my 2012 5,1 Mac Pro running 10.10.5. I’ve succeeded in doing so for the most part, however I’m failing to be able to control the temperature from my two ATI Radeon HD 5770 cards.

One of the cards is hooked up to a 1920x1080 monitor whereas the other card is hooked up to two 1600x900 monitors.

Each card idles around 50-60 degrees when hooked up to a single display. This will rise to...

Okay, so I recently purchased a 2010 Mac Pro after researching them for about 9 months, and was excited to have a speedy machine after my 2011 iMac's video card took another crap.
I bought a fairly maxed out tower off of ebay, it arrived working great, but after about 2 weeks it took a crap in the middle of doing a photoshop action.
The machine still booted off of the 2.5 with windows on it, so I figured it was the ssd with mac os on it. After reading quite a bit, I acquired an SM951 AHCI...

Installing El Capitan on non Mac Pro

$

As far as I know, after installing retail version of El Capitan on an HDD, the HDD can be moved to any other Mac that can accept the HDD and El Capitan and will boot perfectly. This has been the case since like 10.6

Anyone know if this is true for Mac Pro also? Assuming a model that works with El Capitan of course.

I don't own a Mac Pro but plan to make an HDD (with my 2013 Macbook Air i5 or 2009 iMac C2D) snd send it for a friend to use in a Mac Pro.
