In the last 7-8 weeks since I have my nMP I've had some unreliability using a USB3 enclosure for backups. I'm using a 3TB NAS drive partitioned: 2.25TB for TM backups and 750GB for a boot disk using CCC should my main drive fail.
On two or three occasions (usually a few weeks apart) my TM backups will just hang. It will say there is x number of GB to backup and it will get maybe 200MB into it and just hang. Two times I was able to delete the InProgress file, eject the disks, remove the disk from the TM preferences and then reverse the process.
The most recent issue nothing worked so I call AppleCare, talked with a Sr. Rep. Ultimately, only by booting the MacintoshHD into recovery mode and repairing disk permissions did it fix the "hanging" issue. His parting advice was that Apple doesn't recommend that a TM drive have anything else on the drive (although technically he said that there's no reason why it shouldn't work).
Has anyone else had this happen? Is the right fix for this either a second enclosure/disk just for the CCC image or a 2-bay enclosure where TM backs are on one disk and CCC images are on the other?
