Mac does see Raid 0 drives

I have a 10 year old mac pro with a total of 4 drives.
1-150G start up
1-250G for general storage
and 2 500g arranged in a Raid 0 stripped? ( I believe that how its set up)

Yesterday I was working with FCP and it started acting strange. Lots of spinning balls and then it finally started crashing.
I restarted and now when it boots up it doesnt see the two drives in the Raid0.
I get the message

"This computer cannot read the drive you have inserted"
with three options

Ignore, Initialized and eject.

When I hit Initialize the Disk Utility pops up. It sees the two drives but if I try to verify or repair permissions on the Raid it will start the verification and then stops and reads

Cannot verify content of drive

it gives me the same message if I try to repair the drives

So, it seems to see the drives there but I no longer get the icon for the drives and I can see any of the content

Help ?
